Who We Are
Downtempo duo Animat is a collaboration between Mark Daly and Michael Harding (The Only Michael) with the voices of Sanchita Farruque, Lisa Palmer, Anne Garner and others.

Animat have been making music together since 2004, a partnership growing out of our work together as DJs in Sheffield's Sundaze collective. We have released two albums on the Big Chill Label as well as five self-released EPs and have had tracks released on EPs and compilations by Klassik Lounge, One World, Dubmission and Bloodsugar Records. We have also developed a unique series of live DJ soundtracks which we have performed at festivals, cinemas and other events around the UK . Our latest film project, John Carpenter's Dark Star, is currently in preparation and the first live dates will be announced soon - watch this space...

Our latest album Imagining Ghosts - The Remixes was released on Big Chill in April 2012. It features remixed versions of all 12 tracks from last year's Imagining Ghosts album by an international array of remixers including Deep Dive Corp, Great Skies, Bam Sound, DF Tram & Future BC, Five Seasons, and The Fantastic Laura B. The EPs Zeroes and Ones and A Promise of Snow are still available via i-tunes, Beatport, Juno, emusic and all good online music stores and include remixes by Alucidnation, Verbrilli Sound, The Beaufort Scale, Input Junkie and Dialog>. You can preview and buy individual tracks at our Bandcamp site. We have also compiled the first three EPs, Sunshine or Rain, Arctic and Heart Shaped Balloons into a 12-track album, The Distance from A-B, exclusively available from Bandcamp. CD versions of all releases are available on a limited edtion basis from our online shop
